Norton Antivirus 2001 Norton 2001 brings in an all-new dimension to security from viruses. To begin with, one CD comes with install options for Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000 and Windows ME as well, which is quite a welcome trait. Norton 2001 claims the minimum configurations are just a Pentium at 133 MHz but even on our test system (a P-III 700 MHz) we could discern its resource-hungry nature. Its virus catching capabilities included detecting and disinfecting I Love You and Kak, so a loss of speed is tolerable. Installation took over 20 minutes but offered high configurability. Like its earlier versions, it too comes with features such as Live Update, which allows automatic updating of virus signature files. With every new version, Norton Antivirus seems to be getting more and more resource hungry, which should be looked into. Others: |
